The Ambassador of Pakistan in a meeting with Hamid Karzai, Abdullah Abdullah discussed the situation in Afghanistan

Mansoor Ahmad Khan, Pakistan's ambassador to Kabul, met with former Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Abdullah Abdullah, head of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR), on Thursday to discuss the country's deteriorating situation.
Khan said they "discussed constructively efforts for lasting stability in Afghanistan" as Pakistan seeks to play its part in bringing peace to the country after the Taliban took over.
The development came four days after the Taliban overthrew the previous government in their 10-day power broom, announcing the creation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid announced in a tweet that the group had decided to establish the Islamic Emirate on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the British rule in Afghanistan.
Mujahid had earlier "assured" his nation that after consultations - which would be completed soon - Afghanistan would see the establishment of a strong, Islamic and comprehensive government.
Meanwhile, Karzai said in a tweet about the meeting that the current situation in the country and a comprehensive political process with national and international legitimacy were discussed.
In light of the situation, Prime Minister Imran Khan - two days ago - discussed with the leaders of Germany, Denmark and the United Kingdom the emerging situation in Afghanistan.
The Prime Minister told him that while Pakistan was reaching out to all Afghan leaders, the international community should also be engaged, especially in providing economic assistance to the people of Afghanistan.
