During his visit to the
Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and Transplantation (RIUT) on Tuesday, Prime
Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that development projects, especially those
related to health and education, should not be politicized and should be
implemented in the best interest of the general public.PM Sharif stressed that
no one should be allowed to politicize any government projects. He highlighted
the importance of unity for the proper implementation of the country's
constitution.
Expressing satisfaction with the
successful completion of the first phase of the hospital, where patients were
receiving top-quality medical treatment for dialysis, kidney ailments, and
surgeries, PM Sharif praised the Punjab Administration of Health for their
effective operationalization of the hospital. He also commended the dedication
of doctors and nurses.
PM Sharif mentioned that Rs 5 billion
had been spent on RIUT so far and recalled that he had laid the foundation
stone of the hospital back in 2012. He expressed regret that the project had
been delayed by the previous government, which could have otherwise been made
operational much earlier.
PM Sharif also referred to an
allegation made against him by a former chief justice of the Supreme Court,
which had halted the work on a kidney and liver transplant hospital in Lahore.
He emphasized that such discouragement of development and social work had a
negative impact on the provision of civic facilities for the general public.
PM Sharif highlighted that serving the masses was a noble cause that required synchronized efforts from all stakeholders. He took a round of various sections of the RIUT during his visit and inquired about the health of patients. He instructed the administration to spare no effort in providing the best possible medical facilities to the patients. o:p>
