Defense Minister says that Jahangir Tareen's stability to
PML-N is not threatened by Pakistan Party
Khawaja Asif reiterated that the
upcoming general elections in the country would go ahead as scheduled. A day earlier,
Tareen made an official announcement about his newly formed political party.
Addressing a press conference along with former PTI leaders including Aleem
Khan and Imran Ismail, he announced the formation of the Stability Pakistan
Party.
Jahangir Tareen, an influential
politician from southern Punjab who was closely associated with former Pakistan
Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and played an important role in the
formation of the party, is expected to contribute to the betterment of the country.
He said that we have united on one platform to collectively get the nation out
of the current challenges. Tareen emphasized the need for political leadership
capable of solving various problems, including social, economic and others.
Meanwhile, Khawaja Asif commented
on the government's economic targets, saying failure to achieve them was not a
sign of overall government failure. He highlighted that his party has given
selfless priority to the welfare of the state, acting as a bulwark against
economic collapse.
In contrast, PML-N leader and
close aide of Nawaz Sharif, Senator Dr Asif Kirmani took to Twitter to describe
Tareen's party as a gathering of "capitalists and industrialist
landlords". Kirmani expressed skepticism about the stability that could be
expected from those who had previously contributed to instability in Pakistan.
PTI rejected IPP
The PTI responded by saying that
the formation of new parties made up of leaders who had united because of
"forced divorces" was not a solution to the country's current crises.
In a Twitter statement, the
former ruling party rejected the IPP, which was initiated by PTI leader
Jahangir Tarin. He stressed that creating new parties with people who left
after the turbulent splits would not solve the challenges facing Pakistan. PTI
reiterated the importance of holding fresh, free and fair elections. Emphasized
that the people of Pakistan should get an opportunity to elect their
representatives.
Jahangir Tareen's party consists
of politicians who previously left the PTI during the mass exodus, many of whom
have announced their retirement from politics. Among them are Fawad Chaudhry,
Ali Zaidi, Mahmood Baki Maulvi. , Imran Ismail, Firdous Ashiq Awan, Amir
Mehmood Kayani, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, Fayyazul Hasan Chauhan and Murad Ras are
the names to be mentioned.
