Discover Simone Biles' wellness secrets and fitness routine in South Africa.
Simone Biles is making the most of her honeymoon
in South Africa—and turning heads while she’s at it. The greatest gymnast of
all time recently posted a series of breathtaking vacation snaps on Instagram.
She won medals at the Olympics in 2016, 2021, and 2024. In one standout shot,
she lounges poolside in a striking orange swimsuit, the stunning backdrop of
mountains behind her. She kept the caption playful, writing, “What day is it?”
While Biles may be on vacation, she never slacks
on her fitness. Want to know how she stays competition-ready year-round? Here’s
a look at her go-to wellness habits.
In an interview with Bustle, Biles shared some of
her wellness secrets. In it, she revealed that her husband turned her on to
Pilates to stay in shape. “My husband swears by Pilates, so I've tried it with
him about three times. However, he also has a little bit more time to do it in
the off-season than I do. We did intense Pilates, which was very difficult, but
I did enjoy it.
Biles tells Bustle that she does a lot of
conditioning exercises to stay in shape. “I’m in the gym for six to seven hours
a day,” she revealed. “On a typical day, I’ll do lots of conditioning to get
ready for competitions. My workouts are all based on gymnastics conditioning,
so it’s a little bit different from a typical gym routine. We’ll do bodyweight
exercises, rope climbing, casts, and other exercises that mimic the moves used
in gymnastics.”
Biles ensures that her body recovers from all of
her strenuous physical work. She shared her favorite ways to do so in her
Bustle interview. “My husband and I got a cold tub for our backyard. We will
set up a cold plunge once he returns to Houston, but I haven't done one yet. I
also get a lot of bodywork done, like massages, acupuncture needles, and KT
Tape—all that good stuff. And I like to soak in a hot tub.”
Biles broke down her diet in her Bustle
interview. “I put a lot of focus on fueling my body, so I eat a lot of boiled
eggs, toast, granola bars, and fruit throughout the day. For lunch, I’ll eat
more proteins, like chicken or salmon,” she says. “And then the same for
dinner, but I’ll add grains, rice, potatoes, veggies—stuff like that. I make
excellent lemon pepper salmon with vegetables and rice. And if I make a salad,
I have to have feta on top.”
Biles has amazing skin, and she makes sure to
take care of it. She revealed her favorite facial essence to People. "This
Pitera essence hydrates, moisturizes, evens out my skin tone, and leaves my
skin glowing. It's like miracle water for my skin. I love that it's super
powerful, yet lightweight. When I heard the legendary story—that it was
discovered in a sake brewery in Japan where all the elderly brewers had soft
hands with no wrinkles—I knew I needed to try it, and now I love it."
