A bill calling for a ban on private cryptocurrencies out of 26 listed for the winter session
New Delhi: The central government on Tuesday filed 26 bills for the next session of parliament, one to repeal three form laws and the other to allow government digital currency through RBI on all but a few private cryptocurrencies. Includes bans.
The latter is the most widely debated bill in the country to regulate and restrict cryptocurrency.
The Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill seek to ban all but a few private cryptocurrencies in order to promote basic technology while allowing the government digital currency to be used by the RBI.
NDTV reports that just hours after the government's announcement, all crypto prices have fallen by 15% and more.
