ISPR cautions Imran Khan against making unfounded accusations towards active military personnel

The institution declares its authority to pursue legal measures against intentionally false and malicious statements and propaganda.

On Monday, the Pakistan Army strongly criticized former Prime Minister Imran Khan, stating that the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had made unsubstantiated and extremely reckless accusations against a senior military officer who is currently serving.

In response to the accusations made by Imran Khan against a senior military officer without evidence, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a statement calling the allegations "fabricated and malicious," and condemned the consistent targeting of military and intelligence agencies officials for political gain over the past year. The ISPR urged the political leader responsible for making the false allegations to seek legal recourse and stop propagating baseless claims.

The ISPR emphasized that the institution has the right to pursue legal action against intentionally false and malicious statements and propaganda.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif criticized Imran's habit of maligning and threatening the Pakistan army and intelligence agency for political gain, calling it "highly condemnable" in a tweet. Imran had previously questioned whether military officers were above the law.

Shehbaz Sharif, the current Prime Minister of Pakistan, criticized Imran Khan for making baseless allegations against Gen Faisal Naseer and officers of the intelligence agency without any evidence. Shehbaz stated that such behavior would not be tolerated.

In response to the criticism, Imran tweeted a screenshot of the Prime Minister's statement and questioned whether he, as a citizen who had recently survived two assassination attempts, had the right to nominate those responsible for the attacks. He also questioned why he was denied the right to register an FIR and whether military officers were above the law.

Imran further questioned who was powerful enough to sabotage the joint investigation team probing the Wazirabad incident when the PTI was in power in Punjab. He also asked why the ISI took over the ICT Judicial Complex prior to Shehbaz's appearance on March 18, and what business they had there.

 

Imran concluded that when Shehbaz answered his questions truthfully, it would become clear that one powerful man and his accomplices were above the law. He stated that this signaled a lawless society where might makes right.
